بَابُ الْمَرْأَةُ رَاعِيَةٌ
Chapter: The Woman is a Shepherdess
Hadith 214
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سَالِمٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ، وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْؤُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ، الإِمَامُ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْؤُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ، وَالرَّجُلُ رَاعٍ فِي أَهْلِهِ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ رَاعِيَةٌ فِي بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا، وَالْخَادِمُ فِي مَالِ سَيِّدِهِ“، سَمِعْتُ هَؤُلاَءِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَحْسَبُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”وَالرَّجُلُ فِي مَالِ أَبِيهِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you will be questioned about his flock. The ruler is a shepherd and will be questioned about his subjects. A man is a shepherd over the members of his household, and a woman is a shepherd over her husband's house, and a servant is a shepherd over his master's wealth." I heard these words from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and I think the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: "And a man is a shepherd over his father's house."
