بَابُ الإِحْسَانِ إِلَى الْبَرِّ وَالْفَاجِرِ
Chapter: Kindness to Both the Righteous and the Wicked
Hadith 130
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ، عَنْ مُنْذِرٍ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ: ﴿هَلْ جَزَاءُ الإِحْسَانِ إِلاَّ الإِحْسَانُ﴾ [الرحمٰن: 60]، قَالَ: هِيَ مُسَجَّلَةٌ لِلْبَرِّ وَالْفَاجِرِ. قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ: مُسَجَّلَةٌ مُرْسَلَةٌ.
Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, who is the son of Sayyiduna Ali, says that the blessed verse «هَلْ جَزَاءُ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَّا الْإِحْسَانُ» [سورہ الرحمن: 60] "The reward of goodness is only goodness." is for both the good and the bad. Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, said that Abu Ubaid said: The meaning of «مسجلة» is absolute.
