It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that my beloved friend (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) advised me regarding three things: “Listen to and obey (the leader), even if he is a slave with mutilated ears. (And he said:) When you make broth, add more water to it, then look at the (poor) houses of your neighbors and send some of that broth to them according to custom. And perform the prayer at its appointed time. And if you (having prayed at home or elsewhere) come to the mosque and find that the Imam has already performed the prayer, then your (prayer already performed) is preserved for you; otherwise (if he is still praying, then pray with him) your (second) prayer will be considered voluntary (nafl).”

(Through another chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Abu Dharr! When you cook broth, add more water to it, and take care of your neighbors," or he said: "Distribute it among your neighbors as well."
