It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that during a journey of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), a Bedouin came forward and said: "Tell me of a deed that will bring me near to Paradise and keep me far from Hell." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, establish prayer, pay zakat, and maintain ties of kinship."

Hadith Takhrij«صحيح : أخرجه البخاري، الزكاة، باب وجوب الزكاة : 1396 و مسلم : 13 و النسائي : 468 ، صحيح الترغيب والترهيب : 747، 2523»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty created the creation. When their creation was completed, the womb (rahm) stood up. Allah Almighty said: What is the matter? It said: This is the place for seeking Your protection from severing ties of kinship. Allah Almighty said: Are you not pleased that I will join the one who joins you, and I will cut off the one who cuts you off? The womb said: O Lord Almighty! Yes, indeed. Allah Almighty said: This has been established for you." Then Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you wish, (for confirmation) recite this verse: «فَهَلْعَسَيْتُمْإِنْتَوَلَّيْتُمْأَنْتُفْسِدُوافِيالْأَرْضِوَتُقَطِّعُواأَرْحَامَكُمْ»[سورہ محمد: 22] "Then (O hypocrites!) is it expected of you, if you are given authority, that you will cause corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship?"

Hadith Takhrij«صحيح : أخرجه البخاري، التفسير، باب سورة محمد : 4830 و مسلم : 2554 ، الصحيحة : 2741»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), that he, while explaining the saying of Allah Almighty: «وَآتِذَاالْقُرْبَىٰحَقَّهُوَالْمِسْكِينَوَابْنَالسَّبِيلِ»[سورہ الإسراء: 26], said: Allah Almighty first commanded the most obligatory rights (i.e., the oneness of Allah and good conduct towards parents), and in the case of having wealth, He guided towards the best deed among actions, that "give the relative his right, and also to the needy and the traveler." And in the case of not having wealth, He taught that "if you turn away from them seeking mercy from your Lord (i.e., sustenance), then speak to them kindly," meaning, say to them that, insha’Allah, if any means become available, then you will cooperate with them. (Because) the statement of Allah Almighty: «وَلَاتَجْعَلْيَدَكَمَغْلُولَةًإِلَىٰعُنُقِكَ»[سورہ الإسراء: 27] "And do not keep your hand tied to your neck," means do not be so stingy that you give them nothing at all and avoid them. And «وَلَاتَبْسُطْهَاكُلَّالْبَسْطِ» "And do not stretch it out completely," means: do not do so that you give away all that you have, so that «فَتَقْعُدَمَلُومًامَحْسُورًا» "then you sit down blamed and exhausted," meaning, the one who comes later finds nothing with you and blames you, and you remain regretful and sorrowful over what you have given.
