It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a Bedouin passed by me during a journey. The father of this Bedouin was a friend of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), so he (Ibn Umar) said to the Bedouin: "Are you not the son of so-and-so?" He replied: "Yes." Then Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) ordered that a donkey be given to him (the Bedouin), and he also took off his turban and gave it to him. Some of his fellow travelers said: "Would it not have been sufficient to give him two dirhams?" He replied: "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Take care of your father's friendship; do not break it, otherwise Allah will extinguish your light.'"
