بَابُ لِيْنِ الْكَلاَمِ لِوَالِدَيْهِ
Chapter: Speaking Gently to Parents
Hadith 8
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ مِخْرَاقٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي طَيْسَلَةُ بْنُ مَيَّاسٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّجَدَاتِ، فَأَصَبْتُ ذُنُوبًا لاَ أَرَاهَا إِلاَّ مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: مَا هِيَ؟ قُلْتُ: كَذَا وَكَذَا، قَالَ: لَيْسَتْ هَذِهِ مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ، هُنَّ تِسْعٌ: الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ، وَقَتْلُ نَسَمَةٍ، وَالْفِرَارُ مِنَ الزَّحْفِ، وَقَذْفُ الْمُحْصَنَةِ، وَأَكْلُ الرِّبَا، وَأَكْلُ مَالِ الْيَتِيمِ، وَإِلْحَادٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، وَالَّذِي يَسْتَسْخِرُ، وَبُكَاءُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ مِنَ الْعُقُوقِ. قَالَ لِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ: أَتَفْرَقُ النَّارَ، وَتُحِبُّ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ؟ قُلْتُ: إِي وَاللَّهِ، قَالَ: أَحَيٌّ وَالِدُكَ؟ قُلْتُ: عِنْدِي أُمِّي، قَالَ: فَوَاللَّهِ لَوْ أَلَنْتَ لَهَا الْكَلاَمَ، وَأَطْعَمْتَهَا الطَّعَامَ، لَتَدْخُلَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ مَا اجْتَنَبْتَ الْكَبَائِرَ.
Taysalah bin Miyas says: I was with the Khawarij, and I committed some sins which I considered to be major sins. I mentioned them to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so he asked: What are they? I said: Such and such. He said: These are not major sins. The major sins are only nine: associating partners with Allah, killing a soul unjustly, fleeing from the battlefield, slandering a chaste woman, consuming usury, usurping the wealth of an orphan, committing unlawful acts in the mosque, mocking someone, and disobeying parents and making them weep. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me: Do you fear the Fire and wish to enter Paradise? I said: Yes, by Allah! He said: Are your parents alive? I said: My mother is alive. He said: By Allah! If you speak gently to her, feed her, and avoid the major sins, you will surely enter Paradise.
Hadith 9
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: ﴿وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ﴾ [الإسراء: 24]، قَالَ: لاَ تَمْتَنِعْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ أَحَبَّاهُ.
Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father regarding the interpretation of the Quranic verse: «وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ» [سورہ الإسراء: 24], that he said: (It means) to do what pleases them and do not go against it.
