Hadith 988

Narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Jews are not as jealous of anything from you as they are of your greeting of Salam and saying Ameen."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ In these narrations, further benefits of greeting (salam) have been mentioned. In addition to mutual love, saying salam also increases good deeds.
➋ Saying salam when leaving a gathering is just as necessary as saying salam when entering. This should also be observed with care.
➌ When initiating the greeting, it is permissible to say "as-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh," and in response, it is not correct to add anything further from oneself.
➍ The Jews are the greatest ill-wishers of Muslims in the universe. Since both salam and amin are means of forgiveness and pardon for Muslims, it pains them that Muslims become deserving of forgiveness through such a simple act.
