بَابُ مَنْ بَدَأَ بِالسَّلامِChapter: Who starts with Salam
Hadith 983
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلاَمٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ: يُسَلِّمُ الرَّاكِبُ عَلَى الْمَاشِي، وَالْمَاشِي عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ، وَالْمَاشِيَانِ أَيُّهُمَا يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلامِ فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The rider should greet the one who is walking, and the one who is walking should greet the one who is sitting. Among two people walking, the one who initiates the greeting is superior.
