It is narrated from ‘Ata bin Dhamrah (may Allah have mercy on him) that I saw a man at the place of Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him) who was attributing himself to the days of ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) told him to bite his own male organ, and he did not use a euphemism but said it explicitly. His companions looked at him in astonishment. He said: Do you find my words inappropriate? Then he said: I will not fear anyone in this matter. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: “Whoever attributes himself to the days of ignorance, tell him to bite his own male organ, and do not use a euphemism but say it explicitly.”
This narration is also reported in the same way through Ibn al-Mubarak (may Allah have mercy on him).
