بَابُ الطِّيَرَةِ مِنَ الْجِنِّChapter: Superstition from the jinn
Hadith 912
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُؤْتَى بِالصِّبْيَانِ إِذَا وُلِدُوا، فَتَدْعُو لَهُمْ بِالْبَرَكَةِ، فَأُتِيَتْ بِصَبِيٍّ، فَذَهَبَتْ تَضَعُ وِسَادَتَهُ، فَإِذَا تَحْتَ رَأْسِهِ مُوسَى، فَسَأَلَتْهُمْ عَنِ الْمُوسَى، فَقَالُوا: نَجْعَلُهَا مِنَ الْجِنِّ، فَأَخَذَتِ الْمُوسَى فَرَمَتْ بِهَا، وَنَهَتْهُمْ عَنْهَا وَقَالَتْ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ الطِّيَرَةَ وَيُبْغِضُهَا، وَكَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَنْهَى عَنْهَا.
Narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that newborn children would be brought to her and she would pray for blessings for them. Once, a child was brought. When she was about to place his pillow, there was a razor underneath it. She inquired about the razor, and they said: "We keep it for protection from jinn." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) picked up the razor and threw it away, forbade them from doing this, and said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked bad omens and he hated them." And Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) also forbade this.
