It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Evil omen is shirk, and each of us has apprehensions, but Allah Almighty removes it through reliance (tawakkul) upon Him."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ The people of the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah) held the belief that a good or bad omen would bring them benefit or harm, whereas the only possessor of benefit and harm is Allah Ta'ala. In effect, they made such things partners with Allah. ➋ If merely a suspicion arises in the heart, and a person does not pay heed to this suspicion, and continues his work by employing apparent means while placing his trust in Allah, then there is no harm in such a suspicion. ➌ When seeing clouds, one should only take an omen of rain, but since they are also a possible sign of punishment, it is necessary to seek refuge from the punishment of Allah as well.
