It is narrated from Umm Asid (may Allah have mercy on her) that I asked Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him): What is the reason that you do not narrate hadiths from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) like the other Companions? Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever attributes a lie to me should make his place in the Fire." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying this while touching the ground with his hand.
