Hadith 858

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ‏:‏ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ‏:‏ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ يَغُوثَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ‏: ”إِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حِكْمَةً‏.‏“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Some poetry contains wisdom."

Benefits and Issues:
The point is that some poetry is based on reality. Whatever is said in them is true; there is no falsehood included, and people derive lessons from them, just as in Urdu, the poetry of Iqbal or Zafar Ali Khan.
