بَابُ الْكُنْيَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُولَدَ لَهُChapter: Kunya Before Having a Child
Hadith 848
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ كَنَّى عَلْقَمَةَ: أَبَا شِبْلٍ، وَلَمْ يُولَدْ لَهُ.
It is narrated from Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) gave Alqamah (may Allah have mercy on him) the kunyah "Abu Shibl" even though at that time he had no children.
