It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that when a son was born to him, he brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) named him Ibrahim, gave him tahneek with dates, and prayed for blessings for him. And he was the eldest son of Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him).

Benefits and Issues:
➊ From these narrations, it is understood that naming children after the Prophets is recommended (mustahabb). Likewise, it is also recommended to have a pious and righteous person give the newborn the first taste (ghutti) and supplicate (make du'a) for them after birth.
➋ These narrations also indicate the compassion, love, humility, and modesty of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) towards his Companions (radi Allahu anhum).
