Hadith 827

Narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Aish! This is Jibreel who is conveying greetings to you." She said: I replied, "Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon him as well." She said: You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would see what I did not see.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ From this hadith, it is understood that out of affection and love, a person's shortened name can be used, which is called tarkhim. It is established that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and others also called people in this manner, as is proven by calling Anjasha as Anjash and Abu Hurairah as Abahir.
➋ It is permissible to send greetings (salam) to someone through another person, and it is also necessary to reply to the greeting, as was done by Sayyidah Aisha (radi Allahu anha).
➌ In the last sentence, the purpose of Sayyidah Aisha (radi Allahu anha) is that Jibril Amin was visible to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), but he was not visible to her. This is a miracle of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Similarly, he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had knowledge of many such matters which ordinary people did not have, such as the punishment of the grave, seeing from behind during prayer, etc. However, all these are miracles; to take them as proof that he was 'Alim al-Ghayb (Knower of the Unseen) is in no way correct. Because there were many matters of which he had no knowledge, and later he was informed of them through revelation.
