It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who says that Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) would sit on his knees before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), take arrows from his quiver and spread them out, and recite this couplet: "My face is a shield for your face, and my life is sacrificed for you."
