It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abi Musa (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him: Do not abandon standing in prayer at night, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not abandon it. When he (peace be upon him) became ill or felt lethargic, he would recite while sitting.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ To abandon an action despite having the ability to do it is called laziness, and if one does not have the ability to do it, it is called incapacity. When Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha used the word "lazy" regarding the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, then it is even more permissible for her to use it for herself. ➋ From this, the virtue of standing in prayer at night (qiyam al-layl) is also established, as the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to give it great importance. In one hadith, it has been described as the practice of the righteous people of the past.
