It is narrated from Zaid bin Wahb (may Allah have mercy on him) that I heard Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: Indeed, you are in a time in which jurists are many and preachers are few, those who ask are few and those who give are many, and desires are subordinate to actions. And after you, a time will come in which jurists will be few and preachers will be many. Those who ask will be many and those who give will be few. Actions will be subordinate to desires. Know that in the last times, good manners will be better and superior than some deeds.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ This narration is considered legally marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) because such a statement cannot be made based on personal opinion or independent reasoning (ijtihad). ➋ The difference between "simt" and "huda" is that "simt" refers to inner (internal) character traits, while "huda" refers to outward (external) manners. And excellent character is equivalent to faith (iman) and Islam; in fact, it is mentioned in a hadith that good character will be the heaviest thing in the scale on the Day of Judgment. ➌ The meaning of the hadith is that today, indeed, actions are given importance and there are many who possess correct understanding of the religion, and this is what Allah, the Exalted, desires. Soon a time will come when following one's desires will be given more importance than actions. There will be many preachers, but those who possess true insight into the religion will disappear. Indeed, this is the situation today. May Allah, the Exalted, protect us from this condition.
