It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not call a hypocrite 'Sayyid' (leader), because if he is your Sayyid and chief, then inevitably you have angered your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: Apparently, to address someone who outwardly professes Islam but inwardly harbors hatred towards it, or a practical hypocrite whose actions are those of the hypocrites, with honor and respect, or to consider him as one's leader and chief, is to anger Allah Ta'ala. This is because the enemy of Allah Ta'ala cannot be the leader of the Muslims. However, as a human being, whatever rights he possesses should be given to him. It should be remembered that this applies when someone's hypocrisy is clear; it is not that a person should declare someone a hypocrite merely because he does not get along with him.
