It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven after two-thirds of the night have passed and announces: ‘Who is there who will supplicate to Me so that I may answer his supplication? Who is there who will ask of Me so that I may give to him? And who is there who will seek forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive him?’”

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ Allah Ta’ala’s descent to the lowest heaven is based on reality. There is no need for interpretation (ta’wil). He descends in a manner befitting His majesty. ➋ The last portion of the night is a time for the acceptance of supplications; therefore, this time should be considered precious. At this time, supplications are certainly accepted, provided that the supplication is not for sin or disobedience, and there is no legal (shar’i) impediment. ➌ Rising in the last portion of the night is the habit of righteous people. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “This is the habit of the righteous before you.” (Jami’ al-Tirmidhi, al-Da’awat, 3549)
