Hadith 749

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ‏:‏ أَخْبَرَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ‏:‏ ”مَنْ أَنْفَقَ نَفَقَةً عَلَى أَهْلِهِ، وَهُوَ يَحْتَسِبُهَا، كَانَتْ لَهُ صَدَقَةً‏.‏“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever spends on his family while hoping for reward and goodness, then it will be charity for him."
