Hadith 742

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hospitality is for three days, and whatever is beyond that is charity."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
The point is that if someone excuses himself from hospitality after three days, there is no sin upon him. However, if he happily continues to provide food beyond this, it is his own choice; it is not prohibited, rather it will be counted as charity (sadaqah) for him.
