It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the sound of thunder and saw lightning, he would supplicate: "O Allah! Do not kill us with Your thunder, and do not destroy us with Your punishment, and grant us safety before that."
