Hadith 714

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Supplication is worship." Then he (peace be upon him) recited this verse: «وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ» [غافر: 60] "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Supplication (du'a) is true worship because in it a person turns his complete attention towards Allah, and, cutting off hope from all others, turns away from them. Furthermore, the servant expresses his own poverty and need, and the greatness of Allah Ta'ala, and this is the highest form of worship. (Sharh Sahih al-Adab al-Mufrad)

➋ In the noble verse, it is stated that those who are arrogant regarding the worship of Allah will enter Hell in humiliation, and the commentators have said that in the noble verse, "My worship" refers to supplication (du'a).
