It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said to his father, Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him): O my father! I hear you reciting this supplication every morning: "O Allah! Grant me well-being in my body. O Allah! Grant me well-being in my hearing. O Allah! Grant me well-being in my sight. There is no deity worthy of worship except You." You say these words three times in the morning and evening, and you say: "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no deity worthy of worship except You." You also say these words three times in the morning and evening. He replied: Yes, my dear son! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying these words, and I like to follow the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He further said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The supplication of a person afflicted with anxiety is this: O Allah! I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye, and set right all my affairs. There is no deity worthy of worship except You."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The first supplication is included in the morning and evening remembrances (adhkar), in which the well-being and proper functioning of two important organs of the body are sought, because the understanding of rational and transmitted (naqli) evidences is connected to these two organs. In the second supplication, refuge is sought from disbelief (kufr), poverty (faqr), and punishment, because the only refuge for a Muslim is the Being of Allah, the Exalted. Disbelief and poverty are mentioned together because, at times, poverty can lead a person to disbelief.
➋ It is Sunnah to recite the aforementioned supplications regularly three times each in the morning and evening. From this, the importance of following the Sunnah can be understood.
➌ The supplication of the distressed and troubled person has already been mentioned before. These two supplications can also be recited. The etiquette is that a person should entrust his affairs to Allah, the Exalted, and, by expressing his helplessness, become hopeful of Allah’s mercy.
➍ From this, the importance of the oneness of Allah (tawhid) becomes evident, as at the end of every supplication there is an affirmation of the oneness of Allah, the Exalted.
