Hadith 683

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to frequently make this supplication: "O Allah! O Turner of the hearts! Keep my heart firm upon Your religion."

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was asked: O Messenger of Allah, why do you supplicate with this prayer so frequently? The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) replied: "The heart of every person is between two fingers of Allah, so He keeps firm the heart of whomever He wills upon the truth, and He turns aside the heart of whomever He wills." (Sahih Tirmidhi, H: 2792)

Therefore, one should always supplicate to Allah for steadfastness and for a good ending upon faith. The supplication from the Noble Qur'an: "Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself..." should be recited frequently.
