It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) supplicating: «اللَّهُمَّإِنِّيأَعُوذُبِكَمِنَالْهَمِّوَالْحَزَنِ،وَالْعَجْزِوَالْكَسَلِ،وَالْجُبْنِوَالْبُخْلِ،وَضَلَعِالدَّيْنِوَغَلَبَةِالرِّجَالِ» "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ Expected distress is referred to as "ham" (anxiety), while distress over a past incident or loss is called "huzn" (grief). Most people's worries are either related to past events—regretting which brings no benefit—or possible dangers that become an affliction in their lives. Therefore, refuge is sought from them.
➋ When a person is overwhelmed by debt, he then makes promises and tells lies, and in this distress, his religion (deen) is also affected.
➌ The meaning of people overpowering (ghalabah) is that every ordinary and insignificant person keeps attacking him, or that a person becomes a victim of people's oppression.
