Hadith 650

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate: "O Allah! Make my hearing and sight beneficial for me and keep them sound as long as I live. And help me against my enemy and show me my revenge from him."

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Oppression is intensely disliked by Allah Ta’ala; therefore, He has declared oppression forbidden upon His servants, and if the oppressed supplicates (makes du‘a) against the oppressor, it is certainly accepted.
➋ The human being is extremely weak and cannot take proper revenge, and if he attains power, he exceeds the limits; therefore, one should beseech Allah Ta’ala for help and support.
➌ The ears and eyes are among the great blessings of Allah Ta’ala, and it is only through them that a person can truly enjoy the world. There is a famous saying: “When the eye is lost, the world is lost.” Therefore, supplicating for the well-being of these organs and beseeching to keep them sound and beneficial throughout one’s life is a supplication for a good life. If these organs remain healthy, a person can easily face many difficulties.
