It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took hold of a branch and shook it, but its leaves did not fall. Then he shook it again, but its leaves still did not fall. Then, when he shook it a third time, the leaves fell. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “«سبحان الله، الحمد لله، لا إله إلا الله» shake off sins just as the leaves of a tree fall.”

Benefits and Issues: The aforementioned supplications possess immense virtues. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) encouraged reciting them after every prayer, at bedtime, and on many other occasions. These are the enduring good deeds, and it is these that will fill the scales on the Day of Judgment. Their virtues have already been mentioned in the previous pages, namely that these are the supplications and prayers of every creature.
