Hadith 622

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin 'Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whoever recites the following tasbihat, which are mentioned ahead and behind, will never be deprived. They are: «سبحان الله، الحمد لله، لا إله إلا الله، الله أكبر», one hundred times. Ibn Abi Anisah (may Allah have mercy on him) and 'Amr bin Qais (may Allah have mercy on him) have narrated this as marfu'.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ What is meant by these tasbihat is that whoever recites them at bedtime or after prayer, as was your (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) practice and as you taught the poor Muhajirun (radi Allahu anhum), then such a person is never at a loss. Therefore, one should certainly make them a regular practice and include them as part of one’s daily routine.

➋ These adhkar can be recited in three ways:
• Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times each, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times.
• The aforementioned three phrases thirty-three times each, and once: La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu’l-mulku wa lahu’l-hamdu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir. (: Muslim 1352)
• Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah twenty-five times each.
