Hadith 621

Agharr, a companion from the Juhaina tribe, reports to Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Turn to Allah in repentance, for indeed I repent to Him one hundred times every day."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ In this narration, there is encouragement to frequently repent and seek forgiveness (tawbah and istighfar). In one narration, he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
((Indeed, a covering comes over my heart, and indeed I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times in a day.)) (Sahih Muslim, Book of Remembrance and Supplication, Hadith: 2702)
"Indeed, at times a covering comes over my heart, and I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times in a day."
Therefore, a servant should always seek forgiveness from his Lord for his sins.
➋ The supplications (adhkar) that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) recited in a specific number should be recited with that specific number, as this is superior and Sunnah. One should avoid self-invented specific supplications and formulas.
