It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raising his hands while supplicating, and he was saying: "O Allah! I am a human being, do not hold me accountable. If I have caused any harm to a Muslim, or spoken ill to him, do not take me to task for it."

Benefits and Issues: ➊ From this, it is understood that raising the hands while supplicating is among the etiquettes of supplication, because the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would often raise his hands in supplication. ➋ In some narrations, it is mentioned that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) also supplicated in this manner: "O Lord, whoever I have cursed or spoken harshly to, and he is a Muslim, then make my curse a mercy for him." (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2601)
