It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When any one of you supplicates, he should do so with firm resolve, and he should not say: O Allah, if You wish, grant it to me. Surely, there is no one who can compel Allah."

Hadith Takhrij«صحيح : أخرجه البخاري : 6338 و مسلم : 2678»
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: The point is that one should supplicate to Allah Ta’ala with certainty of acceptance, believing that Allah Ta’ala will surely grant it. A supplication made with doubt and hesitation rarely reaches the level of acceptance, because Allah Ta’ala deals with the servant according to his assumption about Him.
