Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The noble, son of the noble, son of the noble, son of the noble is Yusuf (Joseph), son of Yaqub (Jacob), son of Ishaq (Isaac), son of Ibrahim (Abraham), the friend of Allah." The narrator says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If I had remained in prison for as long as Yusuf (peace be upon him) did, and then the caller had come to me, I would have accepted his word. When the messenger came to him and said: «ارجع الى ربك» 'Go to your lord and ask him what happened to those women who cut their hands.'” [سورہ یوسف: 50] And may Allah have mercy on Lut (Lot, peace be upon him) when he was compelled to seek refuge with a strong group, at the time when he said to his people: 'If only I had strength to resist you or could take refuge in a strong group.' After him, Allah did not send any prophet whose family and tribe were not powerful." Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) says: «ثروة» means the one who is greatest in number, strength, and defense.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) supplicated for mercy and forgiveness for Lut (alayhis salam), from which it is understood that making supplication (du'a) for others is a Sunnah practice. Especially when the Prophets are mentioned, it is Sunnah to utter supplicatory words for them.
➋ When our master Lut (alayhis salam) was troubled regarding his guests, he expressed the wish that if his tribe had been strong, people would not have dared to do such a thing, whereas he should have said "Hasbi Allah" (Allah is sufficient for me), because this is what befits the Prophets. Imam Nawawi (rahimahullah) states: It is possible that Lut (alayhis salam) said this out of fear for the condition of his guests. There is also the possibility that he said this as an excuse before his guests, that if only his family or tribe had been strong, and inwardly he turned his attention only to Allah. As some have opined, in the hadith, the "strong support" (rukn shadid) refers to Allah Ta'ala, because the true strong fortress of a believer is only Him.
➌ At the beginning, you mentioned the patience, forbearance, and high character of our master Yusuf (alayhis salam), that he faced extremely difficult circumstances with great courage.
