Hadith 576

It is narrated from Abu Zubyan (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Abu Zubyan! How much stipend do you receive from the treasury?" I said: "Twenty-five hundred." He said: "O Abu Zubyan! Buy farmland and livestock before the reins of power pass into the hands of the youths of Quraysh, for with them, gifts and stipends will have no value."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Umar radi Allahu anhu encouraged that if one has means, one should not merely be content with them and remain idle, but should also be concerned about the future and purchase farmland, livestock, etc. There will be blessing in them, and in times of difficulty, there will be no distress.
➋ From this, it is understood that a salaried person should save a little and engage in some business, so that if the salary ceases, there will be no hardship.
