Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The head of disbelief is towards the east, pride and arrogance are found among those who keep horses and camels, who are villagers engaged in farming and raising large herds of cattle, and humility and calmness are found among those who tend sheep."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ Rearing livestock and engaging in agriculture are permissible acts, and are considered a sign of honor. The more livestock a person possesses, the more honorable he is regarded. However, generally, such people develop pride and arrogance, and due to their preoccupation with farming and heedlessness of the Hereafter, their hearts also become hardened. In contrast, those who keep goats are gentle-natured, because they cannot be too harsh with goats. All the noble Prophets also herded goats.
➋ By "the East" is meant Iraq, which is a hotbed of tribulations. All religious and political tribulations that spread in the Islamic world originated from here.
