It is narrated from Humaid bin Malik (may Allah have mercy on him), he said: I was sitting with Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) on his land at the place of Aqiq when some people of Madinah came on their mounts and dismounted there. Humaid says: Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Go to my mother and say to her: Your son sends you greetings of peace, and requests that you give us something to eat. Humaid says: She placed three barley loaves, olive oil, and salt in a tray. I carried it on my head and brought it to those people. When I placed the food before them, Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) glorified Allah and said: Praise be to Allah who has filled our stomachs with bread, after we had nothing except dates and water. People did not have food made of wheat. When those people left, Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O my nephew! Take good care of the goats, keep dusting off their dirt, keep their pen clean, and pray in its corner because these goats are among the animals of Paradise. By the One in whose hand is my soul, soon a time will come upon people when a flock of goats will be more beloved to its owner than the house of Marwan.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) encouraged the keeping of goats, because there is blessing in them. This is an animal that increases very rapidly.
➋ It is permissible to pray in the enclosures of animals whose meat is lawful to eat (ma’kul al-lahm), because their urine is not impure. However, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade praying in camel enclosures, because there is a risk of harm from them.
➌ It is obligatory for a person to take care of the needs of any animal he keeps, and a person is rewarded for this as well. It is also understood from this that taking care of one’s livelihood is necessary.
➍ Near the Day of Judgment, when tribulations will increase, a person’s best wealth will be his goats, which he will take to the peak of a mountain and there worship his Lord and drink the milk of the goats. All these matters are established from the marfu‘ (attributed directly to the Prophet) hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
