It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I was present with my uncles in the alliance of Al-Mutayyibeen. Even in exchange for red camels, I would not like to break it."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: When Banu Abd Manaf tried to seize the office of providing water (saqayah) from Banu Abd al-Dar, nine tribes of Quraysh—including Banu Hashim, Banu Zuhrah, and Banu Taym, etc.—gathered at the house of Ibn Jud'an and pledged that they would support Banu Abd al-Dar and would not allow any injustice to be done to them. It was then decided that they would also help all oppressed people coming from outside Mecca, and whoever sought help, they would assist that oppressed person. At the time of the advent of Islam, this pact was still in effect. Islam abolished all agreements based on oppression, but maintained such agreements (as this one), and made the Companions (radi Allahu anhum) aware of the importance of agreements against injustice. This very agreement is also called Hilf al-Fudul.
