It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he was extremely handsome. He said: "I love beauty very much, and you see what I have been given. My condition is such that I do not even like that anyone should surpass me even in the strap of a sandal. Is this arrogance?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is not arrogance. Arrogance is to reject the truth and to look down upon people."
