It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Paradise and Hell argued with each other. Hell said: 'The tyrants and the arrogant will enter me.' Paradise said: 'The weak and the poor will enter me.' Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said to Paradise: 'You are My mercy; through you I will show mercy to whom I will.' Then He said to the Fire: 'You are My punishment; through you I will punish whom I will.' Each of you will be filled."

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
The abode of the arrogant is Hell; therefore, whoever has the strength to endure the punishment of Hell—and no one does—may act arrogantly, but whoever wishes to enter Paradise should not let arrogance come anywhere near him. It is also understood from this that Paradise and Hell are among the creations of Allah, the Exalted.
