It is narrated from Haithem Tai (may Allah have mercy on him) that I heard Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) saying from the pulpit: Satan has nets and hunting tools, and indeed his nets and hunting tools are: rebelling against the blessings of Allah, boasting over what Allah has given, showing arrogance over the servants of Allah, and following one’s desires instead of Allah.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues: ➊ Satan causes Allah’s blessings and favors, which He has bestowed upon His servants, to be used in such a way that he incites a person towards rebellion. He leads a person into disobedience to Allah, pride, and arrogance, and the person, deceived, becomes haughty, thus destroying both his worldly life and his Hereafter.
➋ Arrogance and the desires of the self can reduce even the greatest of people to insignificance, while humility and modesty can make even an ordinary person beloved by all. The example of an arrogant person is like that of a stiff tree which is uprooted by a storm, whereas a believer and a humble person is like a soft plant that bends when the wind and storm blow. A Muslim should remain vigilant against these tactics of Satan.
