It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever's servant sits and eats with him, who rides a donkey and goes to the market, and who ties the legs of a goat and milks it, has not shown arrogance."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Performing these tasks was the practice of ordinary people in that society, and even in our era, it is the work of common folk. The wealthy consider it beneath their dignity to do such things. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: If a person performs these tasks, he should not be called arrogant, because this demonstrates humility and strikes against pride.

➋ Seating a servant beside oneself and feeding him is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), which indicates his humility. Similarly, he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) rode on a donkey and milked goats. Arrogance never even came near him.

➌ Those who claim to teach the world about human equality today cannot even imagine such things. If a person does not get the opportunity to perform these tasks, that is another matter; but if, despite having the opportunity, he feels ashamed to do them, then this is arrogance.
