Hadith 544

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُبَارَكٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ”مَا تَحَابَّا الرَّجُلاَنِ إِلاَّ كَانَ أَفْضَلُهُمَا أَشَدَّهُمَا حُبًّا لِصَاحِبِهِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When two people love each other for the sake of Allah, then the better of them is the one who loves his companion more."

Benefits and Issues:
Love for the sake of Allah Ta'ala, in which neither the desires of the self nor worldly interests have any role, is worship. Therefore, the greater the sincerity in one’s love, the more virtuous it will be in accordance with that.
