It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would visit a sick person, he would sit by his head and then recite this supplication seven times: «أسأل الله العظيم رب العرش العظيم أن يشفيك» "I ask Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure you." If his death was to be delayed, he would recover from that illness.
Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
➊ This supplication is very great; in it, healing is sought by invoking Allah’s Names and Attributes. And when one asks from that Exalted Being by means of His Names and Attributes, He certainly grants it.
➋ For a person near death who is in distress, instead of reciting Surah Ya-Sin or other surahs, this supplication should be recited. Similarly, for recovery from illness, instead of offering salutations at shrines and seeking help from other than Allah, one should perform ruqyah (incantation) with prescribed supplications and remembrances.
➌ Incantations involving shirk (polytheism) and unlawful blowing (charms) are impermissible; however, prescribed ruqyah is permissible. Even in this, the belief must be that the One who grants healing is Allah, the Exalted.
