It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jewish boy used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He fell ill, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to visit him and sat by his head and said: "Accept Islam." Hearing this, the boy looked towards his father who was standing by his head, so he said: "Obey Abul Qasim (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." Thus, the boy became Muslim. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out from his place and was saying: "All praise is for Allah who saved him from the Fire."

Benefits and Issues:
➊ From this, it is understood that visiting a sick polytheist or disbeliever is also permissible, but the purpose should not be mutual affection and love; rather, the intention should be that perhaps he may become Muslim, and he should also be invited (to Islam) for this reason.
➋ This prophetic pain and longing that “people should become Muslim” ought to be present in the heart of every caller to Islam, so that a person is compassionate towards people and sincerely wishes well for them.
➌ When visiting a sick disbeliever, the supplication mentioned in previous ahadith: “Lā ba’sa ṭahūr(un)” (“No harm, it is a purification”) should not be recited, because illness is only an expiation for the sins of a Muslim.
➍ It is permissible to take service from a disbeliever; likewise, he can also be employed as a servant. If he touches utensils, there is no harm in it.
