It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Three things are obligatory upon every Muslim: visiting the sick, attending the funeral, and responding to one who sneezes when he says 'Alhamdulillah'."
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
The response to a sneeze is that the listener should say "Yarhamukallah" (may Allah have mercy on you), and then the one who sneezed should say "Yahdikumullah wa yuslihu balakum" (may Allah guide you and rectify your condition). In some narrations, five rights of a Muslim over another Muslim are mentioned, and in some, six. There is no contradiction in this; some narrators reported the narration in a concise manner, while others mentioned it in detail.
