Hadith 474

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man stayed as a guest among the Children of Israel, and there was a female dog in the house. They said to her: O dog, do not bark at our guest. But her puppies began to bark. They related this incident to their Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said: Its example is like that of the nation that will come after you, in which the foolish people will dominate over the scholars.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
The chain of narration (isnad) of this athar is weak, and it is also narrated as marfu‘, but its chain is also weak. The meaning is that they neither saw the world nor was there any reason for their barking, yet they began to bark. In the same way, there will be a community whose ignorant people, who will have neither knowledge nor deeds, will attack the scholars and speak insolently against them.
