Hadith 472

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah Almighty is gentle and loves gentleness, and He gives for gentleness what He does not give for harshness."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Allah Ta’ala’s gentleness is that He does not immediately call His servants to account, and instead of punishing the disobedient right away, He grants them respite.
➋ Through gentleness, one attains the ability to perform righteous deeds, matters are set right, success and prosperity are achieved, and reward and recompense are granted in the Hereafter as well. Similarly, in seeking sustenance, by being gentle and making things easy for the one in hardship, Allah Ta’ala bestows such blessings as He does not grant for any other good deed to that extent, nor is such favor granted for being harsh. Rather, harshness makes a person unpleasant.
➌ Where both gentleness and harshness are permissible, it is superior to act with gentleness. However, where harshness is necessary, such as in the implementation of the limits set by Allah (hudud Allah), then to act with gentleness there is impermissible.
