Hadith 430

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was neither indecent in speech, nor one who cursed, nor one who abused. Rather, when he became angry, he would (only) say: "What is the matter with him, may his forehead be dust-covered."

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
For the people of faith, the person of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is the best example.
The statement of Allah Almighty is:
"Indeed, in the life of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) there is a best example for you."
Therefore, one should avoid quarrels and disputes as much as possible so that the situation does not reach the point of abuse, and even if anger arises at any time, one should still refrain from foul language and harsh speech. And "may your forehead be covered in dust" is an idiom which the Arabs used to say at the time of anger or mild rebuke, such as "may your mother lose you" and "may Allah kill you," etc. The actual literal meaning is not intended by these expressions.
